Research, Education and
Outreach
Nationwide, Sea Grant programs are located in every coastal and Great Lakes state and Puerto Rico. They all share the common goal of combining research, education and outreach to improve the understanding and stewardship of marine and coastal resources.
As scientists make new discoveries, a dynamic network of extension professionals located on all the major Hawaiian islands are poised to disseminate this information directly to coastal communities to assist in decision-making.
To help shape the next generation of environmental professionals, Sea Grant education specialists develop a wide variety of programs aimed at enhancing marine science literacy in K-12, undergraduate and graduate students.
