Symposium on Tagging and Tracking Marine Fish with Electronic Devices

February 7-11, 2000
University of Hawaii, East-West Center, Keoni Auditorium

Audio/Visual Equipment to be Provided:

  • Overhead projector
  • Kodak carousel slide projector, remotely controlled from speaker podium
  • LCD data projector, SVGA Sharp Notevision 6 XG-NV6XU with remote.

    Specs: Resolution XGA (1024 x 768). PC compatibility: XGA (VGA to UXGA w/ImageACE resizing). Mac compatibility: 1024 x 768 (up to 1280 x 1024 w/ImagesACE resizing).

The length of the cable from the LCD projector to the laptop will not allow speakers to view the computer screen from the podium. PFRP staff tested the projector with a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop PC running Windows 98.

The following laptop computers will be used to connect to the data projector:

  • Dell Inspiron 7500, 400 MHz, running Windows 98 and PowerPoint 97, with internal CD-ROM drive and external 100 mb Zip drive. Or,

  • Macintosh Powermac G3 laptop, 233 MHz, running Mac OS 8.5 and PowerPoint 98, with internal CD-ROM drive and internal 100 mb Zip drive.

PowerPoint presentations can be controlled from the speaker podium via cordless remote linking to an IR receiver which is plugged into the mouse port of the laptop.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition between each presentation, speakers are requested to bring PC PowerPoint 97 or Macintosh PowerPoint 98 compatible presentations stored on either CD-ROM or Zip disks for use with the conference audio visual equipment.

PFRP staff can assist in tranferring presentations to CD-ROM or a Zip disk.
*** Please allow enough time if this is necessary ***.

Personal laptop computers can be linked to the LCD projector if they are equipped with a mouse port and PS/2 port. Please check with PFRP staff beforehand to determine hardware and software compatibility. It is preferred that speakers utilize the provided laptops to facilitate the flow of speakers during an already busy schedule.

  • For posters and vendor exhibits, easels and partitions will be available upon request.

  • Please contact either John Sibert ( jsibert@soest.hawaii.edu) or Dodie Lau
( dlau@soest.hawaii.edu) if you have any questions or special needs.
