The simulations of Western Pacific are made using the "Rain" computer in the Rain and Wind Study Group of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Professor Yi-Leng Chen is the leading scientist of WRF
application section.
The model and website were set up by the Rain and Wind study modeling group.
This tool has been developed with support from the "Enhancing Climate Information and Knowledge Services for resilience in 5 island countries of the Pacific Ocean", referred to as UNEP CIS-Pac5, a USD $49.9 million program, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). CIS-Pac5 seeks to establish integrated climate and ocean information systems and multi-hazard early warning systems in Cook Islands, Niue, Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), and Tuvalu.
