Lorenz Magaard has received approval for his proposed International Center for Climate and Society within the School of Ocean and Earth Science Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and has been appointed the center's director. The mission of this sister center of the IPRC is to develop improved methods of utilizing economic innovation to mitigate and adapt to climate fluctuations and climate change.
