For an additional cost of $145, the UMI is offering a Marine/Geological/Cultural Field Tour (includes
coach transportation, lunch, and admission fees for both days). Confirmation of this Tour is dependent the registration of at least 20 persons.

• Friday, November 4, 2005: Field Tour (includes visits to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research
  Institute, Moss Landing Marine Laboratory, and Elkhorn Slough (2-hour boat tour).
• Saturday, November 5, 2005: Field Tour (includes visits to various Monterey Formations, scenic 17-Mile Drive, and other stops)

Hotel Reservations at the Casa Munras Garden Hotel should also be completed by September 15, 2005 to guarantee lodging arrangements. A small block of rooms is being held until that date at a reasonable rate in a very popular destination. We urge you to secure your reservations early.

Travel to Monterey County

Travel by air directly to the Monterey Peninsula Airport is serviced by three main carriers--United Express, American Airlines/Eagle and America West, and their worldwide affiliated partners--from more than 80 flights daily to major hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. If you are flying in to San Jose or San Francisco, the Monterey Airbus (www.montereyairbus.com) provides shuttle service to within one block of the Casa Munras Garden Hotel for $30 and $40, respectively, each way. If you are driving, two main highways enter Monterey County: Highway One clings to the coastline and Highway 101 that runs down the agricultural valley corridor. If driving from San Francisco, anticipate the traveling time to be 2.5 to 3 hours each way.
