Our next destination is the HALE - ALOHA mooring (located about 40 nautical miles north of Kahuku Point on the island of Oahu). The mooring is usually deployed for periods of about 6 months and temperature pods, Seacats, trace metal samplers and current meters are some of the instruments installed on the mooring line. A CTD cast is regularly conducted near the mooring during HOT cruises to help calibrate some of these moored instruments.
