It must be about noon because there is a net tow being conducted on the back deck. Net tows are conducted twice per day, near local noon and midnight. These tows are designed to collect zooplankton in the upper 200 meters of the water column. When the net is brought back on deck, we can indentify the species and measure the amount of plankton present during the tow.
