Data Exploration - Static Maps
The map above shows the currently available multibeam data of the main Hawaiian Islands. Areas of white either contain no data or data which is currently restricted (we are working to release more data). The digital elevations for the islands are derived from the USGS DEMs. The map is divided into 1 degree by 1 degree tiles. This tile was used to maximize speed during gridding.
Click on any section of the map below to open up that tile where you can then see a higher resolution map of that area as well as download the data.
Data Exploration - Virtual Earth
A dynamic way to explore the Main Hawaiian Islands Multibeam Synthesis is through Microsoft's Virtual Earth environment. Simply click here or on the image above to start exploring the data. This environment will let you zoom in and out of the data using your scroll wheel, as well as being able to rapidly move around in the data simply by dragging the map on the screen. Enjoy! NOTE: The dynamic maps do not work in the safari web browser, they do work fine using Mozilla Firefox (all platforms) as well as internet explorer.
