PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Software Engineer (July 1991 - present)
University of Hawaii at Manoa
Honolulu, HI
Responsible for the development of data acquisition and visualization software for sonar-based seafloor mapping systems. This software includes real-time display, signal analysis and archiving programs for shipboard acquisition systems, post-acquisition processing and imaging utilities, and an image mosaic production system for the generation of large scale bathymetric and sidescan ocean bottom maps.

Software Engineer (March 1989 - June 1991)
Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory of Columbia University
Palisades, NY
Responsible for the design and implementation of a number of interactive scientific analysis packages. Major projects included the creation of an X11 toolkit library implemented with Xlib, a distributed process network management system, and an image processing system utilizing various workstation displays, specialized imaging hardware and a high-resolution color printer.

Software Engineer (May 1988 - March 1989)
AT&T Network Systems
Parsippany, NJ
Employed as a consultant in the porting of a large WYSIWYG publishing system utilizing optical scanners, high-resolution phototypesetters and laser printers to various host platforms. Primarily responsible for system hardware integration, multi-architecture development environment support, and window system and memory management interfaces.

Programmer/System Manager (April 1985 - May 1988)
Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory of Columbia University
Palisades, NY
Responsible for the administration of a local network including a PDP-11/70 and various Sun workstations, and the development of scientific analysis and display software. Larger-scale software development projects included an advanced graphic interface to a time-series analysis package, geophysical database access, display and maintenance utilities, three-dimensional data display, and the development of a system accounting package used to gather and process daily per-system usage statistics across a large network of Sun workstations.
