Lomonosov Ridge 1999 Survey |
| Twelve days of the SCICEX '99 program were devoted to sidescan, bathymetry, subbottom, and gravity mapping of the Lomonosov Ridge. The survey pattern was designed to look for glaciogenic features on the shallowest portions of the ridge as well as to map the broader structures of this featyre, especially as it extends into the Amerasia Basin. Water samples were acquired on either side of the ridge in the Amundseb and Makarov basins. Principal investigators for the mapping project are Dr. Bernard Coakley (Tulane University), Dr. James Cochran (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory), and Dr. Margo Edwards (University of Hawaii). In addition to the sidescan and bathymetry data presented on this web site, high-resolution CHIRP subbottom and gravity data will be available. |
