Proof Manchester CODEC

Manchester encoder/ decoder

Digital serial Manchester encoded data are received from and sent to the muldex board (4.

(a) The transmitted data originate as two channels of digital serial in the 24 Bit ADC (6) and two channels of serial feed in 64-bit frames from the Rabbit 3000 Controller (9).  The first 8 bits are frame sync bits, two channels of embedded slow RS232 serial (one bit each), and 1 “clock lock” status bit. The next 24 bits are the digitized “left” channel audio from the ADC.  They are followed by 8 null bits and 24 bits of digitized “right” channel audio.  The 64-bit frame is encoded into a Manchester digital serial stream.  It is both transmitted off and received on the board as fiber optic.

(b) The received data originate as RS232 communication at a user console in the shore station. When received in the Manchester decoder one bit of the left channel and one bit of the right channel per frame are sent to the RS232 driver.  This is sent to two serial ports on the Rabbit 3000 Controller (9).
