Proof Module Shunt Regulator

 

 Shunt Regulator

            The linear section maintains a continuous power load of 12 volts at 1.6 amps (20 watts).  The power is distributed either to loading transistors and dissipated as heat into the end cap or to the second module, the switching voltage regulators.  The power is not sent to the switching module until the current reaches a nominal 1.4 amps by firing an SCR.  Once enabled it stays enabled until power down.
