State Machine Circuit

Located on the Rabbit Control Board

There is a set sequence of events which must take place during power-up.  These are controlled by timers.  At a preset level near full line current, the Rabbit Controller is powered up by the Startup (12) circuit.  The timers allow ample time for the current to stabilize before turning on the power to the A-bus, which supplies the Observatory Controller load (the “Hotel Load”).   Sufficient time is then allowed for the Observatory to establish communication with shore.  At this point a command from shore can override the second  timer and take control of the supply.  After the second preset delay, power is applied to the (User) B-Bus.  Thus, even in the event of a failure of the Controller, the full bus power will be supplied to the Observatory after suitable preset delays.
