ESVI REU Program 2020
This was our fourth summer of the ESVI NSF/REU site program. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our traditional ESVI REU program was cancelled for Summer 2020. Instead, we hosted an online REU-Lite summer program spanning 6 weeks, which included weekly science presentations provided by UH faculty and graduate students and several professional development workshops in partnership with the UHM UROP/SURE program. We also teamed up with UH researchers and Voice of the Sea to participate in a remote oceanographic cruise via the research vessel Kilo Moana to explore the abyssal plains north of the Hawaiian Islands.
